CrowdStrike Update Causes Global Tech Outage

On July 19, Cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike deployed a fix for an issue that triggered a significant tech outage for Windows-based systems. The outage affects all sectors that installed the patch.

If your business currently has Crowdstrike (July 19, 2024) and is unaffected, do not update.

Current Work Around

  1. If you don’t have BitLocker enabled,

  2. Boot into Safe Mode

  3. Advanced Start-Up (Command Prompt):

    1. del “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike\C-00000291*.sys“

  4. Boot Normally
